Gwen,

I have a Tempurpedic here in the States and I would not have even considered one for SP because I thought that it would just be TOO hot to sleep on there. I miss the comfort of it and wonder if you have noticed that it is just too hot or feel too damp in San Pedro compared to the states. Are you glad you brought it?

We can't live without it! I have degenerative disc disease, and my 6 ft 9 husband who travels for a living wouldn't be OK. We call it overnight back repair.
We called Tempurpedic about the heat issue before we moved here 4 1/2 years ago, and asked them about putting a quilted type polyester mattress pad on it. Although, they don't recommend it, they said, "whatever helps to continue using it in a therapeutic way". We got a very fluffy cover from Linen Source (and just changed to our second one), and it's fine. It has to be washed and line dried at Nellies because our washer isn't big enough.
I think new Tempurpedics might be better with the heat, but not sure. But we can't live without ours due to medical reasons...it really isn't a luxury.

Also, if you want to bring that mattress to Belize, (hint, hint) make sure you bring the used one you have now. You can give a used value to your customs broker, and it will be pro-rated for shipping, customs, and duty charges. Otherwise, I can't imagine what you would pay for a new one!

I too have to have it for health reasons. Thank you for recommending a cover for the heat issue. Doesn't getting older suck lol?

Great info to know :-) We still have the receipt so I'll start putting those together for Customs.

Oh my God! The last thing you want to bring is the receipt! Just ship it as used mattress/box spring. Or used bed of how many years old. You never want them to know how much that thing cost!
Give an estimate of an average used bed....say $200? $100?
If you bring in something inexpensive, however, like a new TV you bought for $150, then bring the receipt.
