We will be in San Pedro on Saturday March 24th. The long range forecast looks like rain. Is it generally short rains? Should we pack umbrellas? I'm not too worried because I'm sure the rum punches will taste just as good in the rain or the sun. Dawg

If there is rain in the forecast this time of year, it usually passes quickly. Just enough to clean the dust off the plants and cool things off for a bit. Forecasters have a hard time nailing down the forecast for 24 hours much less a week from now.
I wouldn't worry about it.

Umbrellas are more useful for keeping the sun off than the rain, because the rain comes with wind ..... a lightweight rain-poncho can come in handy from time to time so if you have one handy I'd toss it in the suitcase.
JZB is right, and the precise location of where it will rain is even harder to predict - two days ago I got a call from somebody in San Pedro who said it was raining heavily on one side of the Catholic church and not a drop fell on the other side!

Rain doesn't stop much around here this time of the year. We had a good rain for about 5 min. this morning and them the sun came right back out and everything kept rolling along!

It amuses me what some people expect from a vacation destination. I was in Cayo a few years back and overheard a couple complaining about the rain. My sarcastic ways tempted me to ask them what they expected from a trip to the rain forest, but I just chuckled and let them go their way.
Rain is crucial to the country of Belize. And, the reef which is a main attraction and reason to visit Belize does not make it conducive to having the pristine beaches that other destinations have.
If you don’t want rain, visit a desert somewhere and if you want beaches without turtle grass on them go where there is no barrier reef.
If you can’t enjoy what a destination has to offer and expect other than what nature provides, then maybe Disney Land is a better choice.
And Dawg, you have the right attitude. Enjoy the rum and all else Belize offers, rain or shine.

So bywarren, I thought your answer was a little harsh until I read your last line. I can deal with anything. I just like to be prepared. I have asked a lot of questions on this site and gotten a lot of good answers. We are looking forward to our trip and hopefully meeting some of the message board experts. In 6 sleeps we will be there. Dawg
