We have been buying "baby bananas" here for months, so I guess there is a different kind. The ones we buy are on a big stalk and they cut off the number you want ("one hand"). They are delicious and do keep a lot longer than the regular long bananas, which I don't particularly enjoy. I like the tarter taste of the "babies".
I haven't bought an apple since arriving in San Pedro. Have not missed them enough to succumb to what I knew would be high prices. I used to love apples in the US, but only certain ones -- pink ladies, cameos and some of the other newer varieties. Golden delicious and red delicious are very un-delicious to me!
Reading your reply BeBelize reminds me that I miss spy apples.
Not sure I've had that kind!
We bought some "pineapple bananas" at Maria's the other day. Sure enough, they were bright yellow inside (but didn't taste like pineapple). They were small. The most recent ones we bought looked the same, but were pale inside, so I am assuming they're the apple bananas. Yummy!
