Found your cool forum after a very cool stay in Belize last week. I'm still not very well, being homesick that is. I guess I left my heart back there somewhere...

So my daughter and her husband along with two children were being missionaries, based at Roaring Creek. Long story short, they had to leave for various reasons so wife and I went to help them pack and move back to the states. Oh, we're from Arkansas, USA, never been anywhere.

We spent a day packing, then a couple days at Hopkins where we went on a snorkle trip with Hopkins Underwater Adventures. That was awesome!

Then a day or two visiting locals around Belmopan with a couple of local pastors to give out some food stuffs and teaching some locals about solar cooking.

Visited some ruins, got bug bit, sunburnt, scared to death by howler monkies, gecko's and blue scorpions but all in all it was the best time of my life.

Looking forward to learning more and hopefully returning soon to someday. Would like to buy somewhere up in the mountains on the sea side. Thanks for having me.

Thanks for sharing! Yes, tears in the eyes on flight home is very common and a slight depression for a few weeks to follow. The only cure is planning the next trip!!

Hmmm, could say I've been planning! Wonder how long it would take by canoe?

Give or take 8 months depending on weather and current if you paddle 6 hours per day.
