That BZ$7.50 fee is the PACT fee, and it should be charged only if the visitor has been in Belize for more than 24 hours.

The fees have been in effect at other border points, but became effective in San Pedro in August 2012.

No more day trips to Chetumal for me! Between these fees, the cost of the ferry, and the (scam) exit fee to leave Mexico, it's just not worth it. frown

I believe this excludes legal Belize residents as well. We have never been charged anything going or coming from Chetumal, except once, last trip about a month ago. For 3 days. Nothing works all the time, but we learned that when you arrive in Chetumal, they will enter what you have to pay to exit Mexico on your tourist card. This happened to us only once, they entered a non resident exit fee, when we went to leave we argued the fact but out of luck because what is written on you tourist card is wriiten in stone, or so they say. So now we double check it every time we enter Mexico. About every 3rd time they try to charge us, we politly say they must have mis understood our residency, and they have always with an act of confussion corrected it.
