Deputy Prime Minister to Attend

Belize's Only Deep Water, Fully Protected Marina Accommodates Boats Up to 140 Feet

Sanctuary Belize, the award-winning five eco-system residential, resort and marina development, is excited to announce the opening of the only deep-water marina in all of Belize on October 20, 2012. The Deputy Prime Minister of Belize will be heading up the ribbon cutting ceremony for the state of the art, full service marina. This marina is the key focal point of the real estate development.

After securing the necessary environmental permits, the completion of the 250-slip marina and adjacent beach club fulfills a key developer promise made to early buyers. Surrounded by 250 villas and townhomes, restaurants, pubs, and shopping, the marina slips will accommodate boats up to 140 feet.

The opening of this full-service marina will provide a much needed gateway for boat owners, residents and enthusiasts to experience Sanctuary Belize's nine-mile wildlife river reserve, 2,000 acre tropical savannah, 10,000 acre rain forest, the second largest barrier reef on the planet, and the development's own six acre private island off the gorgeous southern mainland coast of beautiful Belize.

Surprised that in the press release they didn't show any photos of the completed 250-slip marina, or any of the 250 villas and town homes, restaurants, stores and pubs around it.

But Deputy PM Gaspar Vega, who has a LOT of experience in real estate in Belize, is a great person to do the ribbon cutting!

I've flown over the site several times the last few weeks, it's impressive, disgusting but impressive. A beautiful lagoon has been utterly raped.

On a side note the much heralded Placencia International Airport is dead in it's tracks and looks to be falling into ruin...

Hi all.

The flooding of the marina is Sceduled for the 20'th of October. The reason there are no pictures is because nothing is finished yet. There are SOME docks in, still some deck to be placed. They are running the electric and water.

Stone Age will be the first foreign vessel to tie up at Sanctuary on the 21'st October. (that's our boat - we sailed here from Vancouver island, BC Specifically for this)

This "opening" is to have the first phase ready and open to the public so we can start to attract the boating/cruising public. Amenities will be added immediately following the flooding and will be available as they are completed.

As of October 21'st we will be offering the ability to tie up with power and water. (If all goes well) Slips from 40 - 120 feet. If you want to see pictures of what is happening, just head to my facebook page (svstoneage) or Sanctuary's facebook page (type in Sanctuary Belize in the search).

Should be quite an event, but the press release is touting much more than will actually be available on the 21'st. That will all come in the next 12 months. (planned)

One reason it has been delayed is because of raw material sourcing. Belize is not the greatest place to a) find construction materials and b) import the materials needed.

It is improving, but slowly.

Cheers!
