Remember the old post-card with the dog asleep in the middle of (sandy) front street ...... with the caption "Rush Hour, San Pedro".

Tourists are hassled, criminals set free with almost no consequences. It sounds somewhat counterproductive to me...

Different set of cops for traffic and "real" crimes. I think the traffic cops should be exchanged sometimes for the "regular" police. They are like a dog with a bone.

I understand. The finite resources should be spent on "police" police. In the grand scheme of things the escalating crime issue is far more destructive than having difficulty finding a parking space...

Two different entities altogether; traffic police come out of SP taxes and budget, regular police don't.

I thought they went around and repainted all that just a few months ago. I know they did in certain parts of town b/c we kept seeing the red-painters as we were biking around town. Maybe they did not hit all parts of town?

The "red zones" were recently instituted; designated as the first 20 feet from an intersection.

Why? You may ask; because the BIG trucks are too BIG to make the turns. Of course we could never think of banning the BIG trucks. After all think about who owns the BIG trucks.

I would laugh if it didn't make me cry every time I see one of the BIG trucks carry a little tiny load.
