My husband and I are weighing out options for developing property there on the island. It seems extremely difficult to get supplies way up north to the Palm Bay Club area. Any suggestions?

Barge or skycrane is all I know. You would have to be Bill Gates or the Oracle of Omaha to use the skycrane!

There is a possible third way. You could wait until the new highway is built between Mexico and San Pedro. wink

DogLady, the barge is the only pratical way of moving building supplies to the North End of the Island at the present time. Concrete blocks, cement, sand and gravel all have to come from the mainland by barge so even if they could be trucked that would mean handling them twice.

Yes, it is somewhat difficult and expensive.

I would bet barge cost would be $2000.00 or more US per trip from Belize City.

Will the barge companies go outside the reef to deliver up there?

We expect it would be expensive. Is there a way to get smaller items delivered from Xcalak? That would eliminate the need to go outside the reef but what are the customs issues? We are talking living supplies too (a couple of crates) not necessarily only building supplies.

The is no customs or Immigration coming from Xcalak unless you go through San Pedro. I think you are also outside the reef when you go through the cut between Mexico and Belize. You might be able to go through Chetumal.
