Can a Canadian citizen operate a boat in Belize?
If I need a licence how do I get it?
Does anyone rent boats out?

Yes a Canadian citizen can operate a boat in Belize. However, you must have a Belizean license which you can only get if you are a resident of or own property in Belize. So, tourist can legally operate a boat in Belize. Don't know of anyone who'd rent a boat to a tourist at least not on Caye Caulker.

Brad, I think people are hesitant to rent boats to visitors because navigating around the reef is challenging; so the risk for damaging valuable boats is just too high. There are a number of folks who'd be happy to take you out for not so much money.

Getting a "captains license". If I remember correctly, you will need a photo,(there is a photo shop behind the clock or there about. A piece of paper saying you own some property.Condo in my case.
JP stamp on the piece of paper. A written test and practical. I used a friends boat. Not difficult
cost ? I think 50bz.
The other post is correct. Renting a boat may not be a good idea. The depth changes are radical and navigating (w/o experience) isn't as easy as it looks
