We are getting the relief situation together tonite. Thank you very much. We're just shifting from chaos to relief work, and we need a little organization first.... Susan Castillo is meeting with an established Belizean Relief group in New Orleans tonite, where the details are getting worked out. Susan will work with Patty Arceo and the Town Board on the island.

Jeff Gram is headed to Cayo Espanto, he has raised $5,000 and is buying relief supplies with the money on his way to the island. He is now working hard on his resort, and will be out of the loop now for further donations, as he will be quite busy getting the doors open to Caye Espanto.

Online donations can be made to the Town Board at: //AmbergrisCaye.com/towncouncil/keith.html

If you email me at [email protected], i will have your email for when we get kicking on this tonite and early tomorrow morning.

Thank you very much,
Marty

Jeff you should call Charles Leslie he is trying to get a similar thing going here in Houston. He works for Continental Airlines & is trying to get stuff there free of charge. His phone numbers are (281) 999-7918 or (281)794-6372. We will be helping him on this end. If you need a place to hang your hat in Houston or a place to store stuff, we are right next to the Intercontinental Airport in Houston. Please call us at (281) 821-2807.

C'mon folks, COUGH UP! I know there are people on this list who can afford to donate funds. In fact, I would suspect that 90% of the people who are coming to this web site can afford to donate SOMETHING. Some of us more than others but those of us who live in the US have no excuse! Most of us have plastic in our wallets. They are taking credit cards.
You know, a lot of the posts here have been people looking for family and friends who were visiting San Pedro.
But I'm afraid that most of the people who have suffered the most, both personally and financially, (and who we have yet to hear from) are the people who live on what a lot of posters have referred to as "the back" of the island, and they are not owners of resorts or condos, they are people whose HOMES are pretty badly wrecked, and many of them are far less equipped to deal with what is coming, at least financially, than most of us who are sending messages. There will be immediate public health concerns to address, food and cooking and water and flushing the toilet and waste disposal things that will have to be fixed QUICKLY. Many people will need alternative housing and people will need help in all kinds of ways right now.
So please cough up, won't you?
(Signed: Susan the Yenta)
