Only heard of one in all the years I've been here, and that was because the lady tried to put the sardine right into it's mouth! She got scratched fingers. Other than that, you're perfectly safe.

I think the most dangerous aspect of diving with the Nurse Sharks at Shark/Ray Alley is hyper-ventilation. If the diver keeps their head, there should be no problems. I think that those Morey Eels are more dangerous at Hol Chan. Divers should never put their hands out of their view in the coral gardens.

When I was there in May, I snorkeled Shark Ray Alley. I am scared of sharks (I guess it is the Jaws thing!). But, I dove right in and nobody bothered me. Seems they are more concerned with the food they get and they are very used to people. Have fun!

We snorkeled Hol Chan and Shark Ray Alley last April. Personally, if there is anything I would recommend doing when going to Belize and AC it would be Shark Ray Alley.

The only sharks you need to watch out for are the land sharks! [Linked Image]
