"Residents in the area told The San Pedro Sun that Faull had a misunderstanding with a neighbor in the area and believe that the dispute may have escalated. According to the neighbors, Faull’s concerns as it related to the person in question were shared by other residents of the Mata Grande area. Those concerns had to do with armed security intimidating residents along the beach and according to the neighbors in the area, the issue was brought up to the San Pedro Town Council."

Has anyone id these "Armed Security" and questioned them? Can any of the people who have seen these people id them for the Police?

Twitchy told you yesterday about the bizarre murder case involving anti-virus software king John McAfee in Belize.

He is now on the run from police — and Wired reporter Joshua Davis has been in contact with McAfee since last night.

John McAfee was accused of murder. He has been calling me throughout the day to explain what happened.

Davis live-tweeted breaking news of McAfee’s continued attempt to evade arrest.

Nov 12

McAfee: "Police have arrested the caretaker of my home+my biz partner+taxi driver who gave me ride. These are Stalin-era tactics."

McAfee called just now: "I am adept at hiding. I will do whatever it takes to stay alive."

Nov 13

Early morning phone call from McAfee in hiding: "I will not turn myself in."

McAfee at 5am: "The police have set up roadblocks across the country to catch me. I slept last night on a mattress infested with lice."

McAfee 7:05AM PST: "Power was just cut to the house I'm in. I think this is it."

McAfee says he is not armed. If the police shoot him, it's not because he has a weapon.

McAfee just called: He has changed locations. The police have not caught him yet.

McAfee says the police raided the house next door to where he was and he evaded them.

McAfee called: Says police spokesperson did not say he is a suspect. The spokesperson has only said that he is wanted for questioning.

Either way, McAfee says he has no intention of turning himself in for questioning as he believes he will not survive police custody.

McAfee on phone just now: I have radically altered my appearance.

McAfee phoned me again at 6:13 a.m. Belize time and described his last 48 hours on the lam. With his permission I recorded our interview, which you can hear below:

.
Raphael Martinez, spokesman for Belize's Ministry of National Security, urged McAfee to turn himself in.

"We want to encourage him to come in," Martinez told the Associated Press on Tuesday. "If he feels threatened, we need to tell him, 'Get someone to go along with you, but come in. Let's solve this crime and you can free yourself.' "

Martinez said two people have been detained in the investigation for questioning. But he added that police have yet to establish a motive in the crime.

Interesting interview. Sounds pretty lucid and rational to me, certainly not like someone that is hopped up on drugs and just committed a murder.

1 year ago, pretty much to the day, one of McAfee's dogs bit my wife on her backside whilst she was walking past his property. We have a property about half mile south of his. I was aware of the fact that the dog had bitten other people in the past. The injury to my wife was an open wound that needed treatment.
I went to the property to complain and I found the caretaker, a local guy by the name of Cash, he denied that the dog was anything to do with him or the property.
I told him that if he did not keep it under control I would deal with it. His response was to pick up a machete and threaten me. My response was to borrow my caretakers machete and go to battle, he declined.
It appears to me that it is likely that this whole situation is caused by two things, irresponsible dog ownership and unacceptable reaction to legitimate complaints about irresponsible dog ownership.
After my wife's incident I spoke with McAfee and told him he had two problems.
A dog that was out of control that need controlling and a caretaker who's behaviour was bullying and unacceptable. I told him that unless he addressed both it was likely that it would escalate out of control.
As far as I am concerned both he, his employees and the dogs have got what was coming to them.

McAfee's Security Guard Arrested, Remanded

Tonight there are a number of major new developments in the Gregory Faull murder case.

First of all, McAfee's personal security William Milligan has been charged along with his wife for two counts of possession of an unlicensed firearm and one count of possession of unlicensed ammunition. Police found them with a single action 12 gauge shotgun and a pump action shotgun along with 27 rounds of ammunition. They were arraigned and remanded to prison today. Two more persons are detained - and they are also affiliated with McAfee.

Second, there is a US Forensic team in country. They arrived in the country today, examined Faull's body at the morgue - and are processing the crime scene on Northern Ambergris Caye at this hour.

Third, the man named as the prime suspect, John McAffee remains in hiding tonight - at parts unknown. He gave an interview via telephone from his place of hiding to WIRED Magazine in the US today.

He discusses the death of four of his dogs - which plays a prominent part in the police investigation. Those dogs named Mellow, Lucky, Dipsy, and Guerrero were reportedly poisoned on Friday night and Faull was killed between Saturday and Sunday.

Shortly before his death, Faull - who lives down the beach from McAfee - had made a written complaint about the dogs to the Town Council.

So when he was interviewed today by Joshua Davis of WIRED Magazine, McAfee was asked about the death of the dogs and if he thought Greg Faull was somehow involved:

Joshua Davis, Wired Magazine
"He didn't like your dogs; your dogs were poison on Friday night. It's not possible that you found out that he poisoned them and took revenge."

Voice of: John McAfee, interviewed by Joshua Davis - Wired Magazine
"Again, we've talk about this before - the idea that my neighbors may have done it didn't occur to me. The first one was the doctor next door because she lives closest to me. Greg lives way down the beach and I was even surprise that we could even hear my dogs. Both Greg and the doctor had dogs, loved dogs. A dog owner/lover is not going to poison anybody's dogs under any circumstances - they may be poisoned me but not my dogs."

Joshua Davis, Wired Magazine
"As to your speculations as to what might have happened to him?"

Voice of: John McAfee
"I do not have a clue. The only information I have about him is what you have told me and what Pricilla had told me. I had no idea that he was shot execution style. I heard some things were missing. It was you the one that told me that it was a 9mm shell."

Joshua Davis, Wired Magazine
"Yup."

Voice of: John McAfee
"That's all I know, I had no speculation other than the first thing I thought about was: oh my God, he is a white man, I am a white man, the government finally decide to off me - they got the wrong white man since we live almost next door."

Joshua Davis, Wired Magazine
"What's the end game at this point?"

Voice of: John McAfee
"I don't have a clue sir. I am unable to move, that's clear. All the police and the BDF have my photo - it's a small country. I am a white man with unique features. If I leave this house I would be identified instantly. For the foreseeable future this is my home. Right now sir I am hold up in a place, the mattress here has lice. I have never experience that before. The end game is obviously, given enough time they will track me down - I have to eat, I have to have supplies, I am using a telephone, they will eventually find out which phone and triangulate it. It's just a matter of time."

Joshua Davis, Wired Magazine
"It's inevitable that they will get you. Why not get a lawyer and turn yourself in?"

Voice of: John McAfee
"(laughing) ok, the last time a person turn themself in was shot in police custody. He name was Arthur Young, he had his hands tied behind his back and they shot him."

The entire McAfee interview is 23 minutes and in it he makes some farcical claims. He says - among many other inaccuracies - that in Belize, a suspect can be held for 30 days and then tried by a judge chosen by the Prime Minister.

Police have reportedly searched a number of McAfee's properties - and the investigation continues.

Still on the Lam, John McAfee Says He’s Now In Disguise

It doesn’t sound like much of a disguise, but John McAfee is doing his best to change his appearance as he continues to evade the police in Belize.

In a case that seems to get more bizarre by the day, the 67-year-old has continued to call me with semi-hourly updates. The latest disclosure: He claims to have dyed his hair, eyebrows, beard, and mustache jet black.

When police arrived at McAfee’s property Sunday afternoon to question him, McAfee hid, he says, burying himself in sand and covering his head with a cardboard box. He says he spent 18 hours hiding on his property before slipping away.

He has been running ever since, he says, riding in boats, huddling on the floorboards of taxis, sleeping in a bed that he said was infested with lice.

Since going into hiding, McAfee has repeatedly denied that he had anything to do with Faull’s death. He says that he does not want to give himself up to authorities because he is afraid they will torture or kill him.

He’s convinced that, while he’s away from his compound, the police will plant incriminating evidence unrelated to Faull’s murder. “The police have been to my house seven times,” he said. “I expect them to uncover a cache of fully automatic weapons, four tons of cocaine. Maybe a Soviet submarine.”

The authorities, meanwhile appear to be trying to put pressure on McAfee by arresting friends and associates, according to two sources (who are not McAfee). Since Sunday, police have detained one of McAfee’s bodyguards, William Mulligan; his groundskeeper, Cassian Chavaria; and a local taxi driver, Cesar Trapp.

McAfee said he is outraged by the detentions: “This is exactly what happened to Soviet dissidents when Stalin took power. If they could not catch the man himself, they rounded up all of his friends.”

Why would someone trying to alter their appearance to elude capture contact a reporter and tell them exactly how they have altered it?
