After my first visit to AC last May, I am of course, going back this coming May. What is the best way to get from AC to Placencia? We want to spend a week on AC then go to Placencia or peninsula area for a few nights. Fly to B.C. then drive? Want to see more of the country on the mainland and expecting the area to be somewhat recovered from the devastation of the hurricaine by then. Anybody?

I recommend driving. We rented a car,4wd Suzuki,at the airport. You should be able to rent for ~$100US a day including all the add on charges. You just get to see so much more of the country!Get a good road map first!

I agree with Richard. Driving lets you see more of the country and gives you the freedom to go when and where you want. Also, a car on the Placencia peninsula is handy just to get back and forth from your hotel to restaurants and such.

Things should be back to normal in Placencia by then.

You can either fly (cheaper if you fly into Muncipal) or take a water taxi/ferry to Belize City.

I like Budget -- they're locally owned, professional and have good low-mileage cars. Crystal, Thrify and Hertz also are good.
