"sold" hah.....sold only happens when $ changes hands. These dudes are pipe-dreamers and have virtually NO cred in the business. My industry contacts just laughed.

There indeed may be a film/book deal in the future, but these guys are about as likely to pull it off as that RE developer who was going to put the big resort/casino up north.

Rich, you are right on. I have a policy that has several exclusions. It is an Umbrella, but...... This was explained to me clearly when the policy was taken out if I remember correctly.

When I read today's news reports i noticed that McAfee's tone has changed: "I wish I could just pack my bags and go to Miami," McAfee said. "I don't think I fully understood the political situation. I'm an embarrassment to the Guatemalan government and I'm jeopardising their relationship with Belize." That sounded as an apology to Guatemala; I went and checked his blog and the post about writing the President from Guatemala with his twitter and email have disappeard. When he would come back to Belize, he better start practicing those apology skills for Belize!

He has a new post on his Blog: "They asked for an end to my "Boycott Belize" campaign, and I have ended it. I have asked the people who manage my blog to instead implement a "See the truth" page.
I am now urging potential visitors to Belize to abandon the usual "five star resort on San Pedro" package, and instead, take your cameras to the interior. Stay at a local bed and breakfast. See the intense poverty and oppression. Talk to the people. Spend your dollars where the local people will benefit. Come home. Tell the world".

from a friend.....

I watched McAfee's "Q&A" session from Guatemala City and, surprisingly given what some had expected, he sounded fairly rational and composed, although he didn't address some key issues. The video feed was messed up, and I may not have heard it all, but he came across as pretty reasonable in the 10 minutes of Q&A I saw. (He answered questions submitted online, and apparently he selected which questions to answer.)

Basically he made some points, with which some would agree, about Belize government corruption at various levels. He alluded to the alleged gang member who died in police custody. Regarding Faull, he said that he didn't know the man very well and had spoken maybe 50 words to him over five years. He accused Faull of being a heavy drinker and said he wouldn't be around people who drank.

There were a few odd statements, such as why he now says he wants to go to the U.S. or to Britain (he's a dual citizen) and will never return to Belize, after having said many times on his blog and in news reports that all he wants to do is to live in Belize. Also, he said "in five years" the PM had never "reached out" to him or spoken to him (as if somehow that was his due) and had not agreed to meet him on neutral ground. A bit of a delusion of grandeur there. He also didn't address issues such as his alleged past drug use, past irrational behavior, interest in guns, hiring alleged gang members, unusual lifestyle, living with several teen-age girls, much about his dogs and problems with them with his neighbors including Faull, exactly why he ran and hid from police -- in other words, he really didn't talk about most of the big issues. Also, there were one or two errors of fact -- McAfee said "70%" of Belize's total employment is in tourism.

McAfee said that his health was okay for a man of 67, and that what had happened in Guatemala City regarding the hospitalization was that he hadn't eaten or drunk very much in two days and had been chain smoking cigarettes and that he passed out, hit his head on the wall and woke up confused.

U.D.P. Chairman says McAfee crazy

Patrick Faber

Faber also responded to the allegations by John McAfee whose creative barbs had cast a bad eye on the U.D.P. and the country. McAfee is fighting deportation to Belize for Illegal Entry to Guatemala. He has claimed that the government and police are out to kill him because he refused to donate to a U.D.P. political boss in Orange Walk. Unlike the Prime Minister who said the businessman is bonkers, Faber was more plain in his response and called McAfee, crazy.

Jose Sanchez

"Can you tell me about the party's perspective on McAfee claiming that the U.D.P. is out to get him and the government is out to get him?"

Patrick Faber, Minister of Education

"I think you had sent a message to me asking if the party or I have received money from McAfee. And I will tell you I have no such knowledge. In fact, I wish he would call a name. He keeps on saying that he was approached by a U.D.P. politician and I can tell you that as the Chairman of this party, I have no knowledge of him making or anybody approaching him or of him turning down any request from the party for any assistance. I think that all now understands that McAfee is a crazy man and, you know, so we won't waste much time on him. He can say whatever else he wants to say and we continue to do the business of the people."
