Belize Children's Project Holding Orthopedic Clinics Countrywide in January 2013

The Belize Children’s project is an ongoing collaboration with Rotary Clubs in Southern Illinois and Shriner’s Hospital for Children in St. Louis to help children throughout Belize suffering from bone abnormalities such as curvature of the spine, shortness in one leg, difficulty walking, club foot, etc. Clinics will be held in January 2013 to find children who can be helped by the program.

The Rotary Club of Belmopan, in collaboration with the Illinois Rotary District 6510 and World Peace Partners, announces its annual Orthopedic Clinic for the Belize Children‘s Project with Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Coles L’Hommedieu from St. Louis , Missouri.

The Belize Children’s project is an ongoing collaboration with Rotary Clubs in Southern Illinois and Shriner’s Hospital for Children in St. Louis to help children throughout Belize suffering from bone abnormalities such as curvature of the spine, shortness in one leg, difficulty walking, club foot, etc.

Since 1972, periodic clinics have been held countrywide to assess new children brought in and revisit children currently in the program. Once a child has been accepted into the program, his or her progress will be monitored until 18 years of age.

The clinics will be held again in 2013 in Santa Elena, Belmopan, Dangriga, Belize City and Orange Walk. The dates and times for the clinics are:

10:00 AM – New Patients

Belmopan – Western Regional Hospital
3:00 PM – Follow-up Patients
4:00 PM – New Patients

They see all children (up to age 18) who are in need of orthopedic care suffering from neck, spine, shoulder, arm, elbow, hand, hip, leg, knee, foot, and other types of bone problems and abnormalities.
