Hi all! Can any locals tell me about Kama? I'm looking at staying there for our 25th wedding anniversary this year. Wanted to get some feedback before sinking the $ into it. How far is it from the town of San Pedro and Ambergris Caye? Thanks so much for your help!

It's a very low-key place. I've hardly seen any signs for it from the road. Perhaps this is how they maintain such a small group of "elite" clientele.

I see. Is it a nice, clean, up-kept, place? Can you tell me about distance from two towns?

San Pedro is the town and Ambergris is the island it is on.

KAMA is not a resort - it is a bar/lounge.

According to their website they are located a 1/2 mile north of the bridge. Have never been to the resort, but you will need to cross the bridge to go into town. There is a fee for crossing the bridge--just did it in December think it was $5 US round trip, then maybe 1/2 mile to the center of town. If you want to be close into town I would suggest staying south of the bridge. There are a lot of nice resorts right in San Pedro--The Palms is a small boutique style condo, the Phoenix is very upscale, Ramon's for island flavor but just a hotel room no kitchen etc. Farther south there are many others. We enjoying walking everywhere when we are there and love being close to town--we usually stay at the Palms which has nice condos, excellent staff and only a couple of blocks to the center of town.

It's not a typical resort, but they do have a rental suite. It's kind of a hike if you plan on walking into town, and if you rent a golf-cart, you'll have to pay for bridge passes. The cart rental and passes can easily add hundreds of U.S. dollars to your overall expenses. Staying at one of the real resorts closer to town is usually the cheaper and more comfortable option. They also employ full time staff members who have much more experience when it comes to pampering tourists. It all depends on your tastes and budget.

The people that own Kama Lounge own a condo in the complex right next door to the lounge. That is the unit that they rent out. You probably saw it on Groupon........they've been advertising it there. Not that far from town at all....you can walk the beach all the way to town once you cross the bridge.
