WATER - that is. Can anyone tell me if this is true or someone is pulling my leg?
I tried explaining to a construction worker that the hot water faucet is always on the right. He said "Here in Belize it is always on the left."

Sorry Harriette, but he is right. The hoter water spigit is always on the left.....unless someone screws up and connects the source to the right.

Same is true everywhere in north America and most everywhere else I've traveled. Only times I can recall seeing hot tap on the right side was when incorrectly installed.

A fish and a bird can fall in love, but where will they build their nest?

On the left in the UK and all other countries in Europe that I have visited. Same applied for trips to the Far East.

The story I've always heard is that when indoor plumbing was first introduced, in most cases this would have been back in the 1800s, there was only cold water. Since most people -- about 90% -- are right-handed, it was logical to put the pump handle or faucet or whatever other device on the right side. Later, when homes started getting hot water, it was natural to put that faucet on the other, or left, side.

Lan, that is what I was told....We recently sold our Construction Company (Pacific Contracting) of 20 years. When training new plumbers the history was all repeated exactly as you wrote.....My husband has what he thinks is a humorous way to remember it however, I won't repeat that here.

My friends call me Judyann
