The stories about a lot of Boats being stolen are true. Several people have had their boats stolen this month and just last night security chased off a guy on my dock messing with the lock and cable.
The North part of the island is just easy picking for Boat Thieves. The technique seems to be to get the boat away from the dock and remove the motor. They cut cables and locks quickly and do it in the dark of early morning time.
I highly suspect its coming from the Mexican side. Not sure what to do about it. You can lock it,light it, put an alarm on it and a GPS finder and they still will take it.

This is interesting as Tamara's house was broken into last night from the canal. Wonder if the boat was one of the stolen ones.

Doubt if that is related. My suspicion is they are interested in getting motors and taking them to mexico to sell.

When they stole my boat it ended up in Mahual luckily someone saw it and let us know and we had to go 4 times to negociate to get it back, it cost me a bunch but a hell of a lot less than a new boat and motor.

Two more attempts last night ,one was successful. Our fishing guide got his stolen,It put him out of a job at a critical time. He's just a little South of us.
I've never been a fan of neighborhood watches. Security techniques should be secret and not posted on the internet or mass emailings.
Keep your security details to yourself.
