The estimated time of closure is about one or two weeks.

I'm getting a lot confusing information about the closing tomorrow.
This sounds like bicycles are OK.
I talked to Coastal Express and they are doing extra runs in the mornings and afternoons to help out.

The bridge will close at 7am tomorrow morning. No motorized traffic. I would imagine since pedestrians can pass, push bikes will probably have access.

Doubt it! This is seriously screwed up.
Excuse me for generalizing but it seems the only truth with government on island is that it isn't true.

I just found out via Ricardo at Banana Beach Resort that the town Board now says the Bridge is closing as of Saturday at May 18th at midnight.

Once the bridge closes, Coastal will be offering 2 extra regular runs. One at 7:30 am and one at 5:30 pm.

Due to a few set backs the Sir Barry Bowen Bridge will now close on Saturday at Midnight and not on May 15, 2013. Sorry for any inconveniences caused.

Closing of bridge delayed until SATURDAY AT MIDNIGHT.

Repairs Commence on Sir Barry Bowen Bridge, San Pedro

The east pedestrian walk way of the Sir Barry Bowen Bridge had been closed for over a year now and after inspection of the bridge that took place in April of 2012, work has finally commenced today Tuesday, May 21, 2013, on the much needed repairs. Upon inspection of the bridge a year ago, it was deemed that the entire support structure is in good condition and not in the brink of collapsing. Immediate repairs are needed on the pedestrian walkways and main vehicle lanes which have corroded due to the climate conditions on the island.
