The San Pedro Town Council along with Hon. Manuel Heredia Jr., Minister of Tourism and Culture and Central Government are working on acquiring the lot between the Alijua Building and Jaguar's Temple Nite Club currently owned by the Parhams.

The San Pedro Town Council hopes to have the community's full support in the acquisition of the lot which will be of great use for San Pedro Town.

Another great news is the paving of Manta Ray Street (where the Dr. Otto Rodriguez Poly Clinic is.)

What is the plan to use the land for if acquired? We're desperate for an indoor Community Centre type building but land like that is surely too valuable to not use for an income or at least in part. Always thought it would make a perfect mini Belize mall especially with decent lower rents but it would take a large investment.

This is huge news. I hope the new plans are sensible, beautiful and maybe provide a place to relocate that clock.

I think the clock would be better suited as an artificial reef.

This is a very bad idea ay this time. Mr.George Parham was the last survivor of the first families to have property on the Island after it was aquired by Mr. Blake.
Mr. George Parham and his wife Marie Parham bult The Sands Hotel by hand, carrying buckets of cement during this buliding process. This was not just a Hotel but has been their personnal residence for the last 40 plus years. The last few years found George in ill health and was in the Houston,TX area because of his failing health, being cared for by his wife Marie.
Sadly George died on November 2,2012 at age 92. Marie has been back to San Pedro twice since January 2013, most recently for a month from April 22 til May 22,2013. Marie is 83 years old and is dealing with the loss of her husband of 43 years and now is having to deal with people trying to take her home away from her.
Please use common sense and not be motivated by money. Let Marie have some peace, especially at this time amd NOT have to worry about anyone taking her home away from her.
This is not a good idea at this time!

I would like to add, that no one has talked with Marie Parham in regards to what is being proposed. Reading about this online this morning has been quite a shock to her and vert upsetting.
SPTC, you should be ashamed of yourselves for not contacting the Parhams in regards to this matter.

I do think the clock should be relocated for sure! Actually it should never have been built and the money spent certainly could have been spent more wisely.

First, i read a post by a neighbor about the claiming of land, and making sure that Town COuncil land is titled so that future town councils cannot sell the land or do what Queen Paz did to front street.

Second, i have thought for years that the building that used to be Iguana's night club (attached to Roadkill) would be the PERFECT indoor community space. It had wood floors, and it would be perfect for roller skating, Quincenera's, indoor parties, rallies, fundraisers, etc. WOuld love to see that happen. Great opportunity for the town AND an entrepreneur.

Third, poor Mrs Parham. I hope she fairs well, is treated fairly, and finds peace.

Finally, no one needs to ask my opinion of the f&$^@ng clock tower...and Ramons Village. Interesting to me how they have gotten off morally scot-free in that scam.

My apologies to Marie - the announcement appeared to be about something of which she would have had full knowledge.

Let's all back off and let the facts evolve. Marie deserves that respect and space.

As for the *&^%$ clock - IMHO ranting on that subject is still very much fair game!!
