This is a major concern on Caye Caulker.
I'm not sure of anything in Belize anymore.
I've been told that all seashore is GOB land, supposed to be 66' everywhere.
Obviously beach erosion has caused some problems there.
What's more of a problem is "Private Dock" signs, even gates blocking docks everywhere.
The story goes if you have land abutting seashore you can apply for management and build a dock.
But this dock is open to public and officially belongs to GOB, you just get to maintain and use it.
This privatization of public property is not good for the community.
Locals need to fish, and tourists like to look beyond the 6 inches of water you see from the shore.
