Well, the high end restaurants are easy to find... prices look about the same as they are in the States.

Anybody have suggestions on nice, moderately priced places to eat on AC?

Also, would love any info on local beer (is it Belikin? and how do you say that? is that the only Belizean beer?), wine or rum that anyone has to offer.

Prices are all reasonable. Remember, for big ticket items like scuba, tours etc, the prices are usually $USD. Restaraunt menues listed on teh web (a most fantastic ting about AC's web) are usually in $BZ which are double $USD. In otherwords, cut it in half.

For a great moderate night you must stop at Jade Garden. Bike ride to Basils for another moderate lunch. For inexpensive, my opinion is almost anywhere in town. The first day there, walk around and check out the places and the prices. It's a great first day to walk around, see the town and check out the places and prices. Bring a small pocket note pad. I

'd tell you my favorites but they are in the basic price range for AC ($4US for a meal) and there are so many I haven't tried it's not good for me to name them. Plus, I don't want them crowded!

You'll be fine.

One of my favorites is Ambergris Delight.

I love the street vendors, ok so they aren't exactly restraunts but you aren't going to find any cheaper food, plus its really good. On my trip over Christmas, I think I ate there just about every night.
As far as true restraunts go, Papi's is great. A little more exspensive, but still good are Lily's and Estelle's. Melissa

Also, don't forget to try the Lighthouse beer (I think that is the name of it). I preferred it because it tasted lighter than Belikin.

Oh definitely go to Papi's--loved his stewed chicken/rice n beans/veggies and his breakfasts--Belizean eggs and fried jacks! Plus Papi is one of the sweetest people you'll meet--Dorothy's take is right on for food!

Belikin rhymes with Pelican from what I was told when I was there last month.

Ate at Caliente for the first time a week ago. Absolutely phenomenal fare and very inexpensive. Had the conch ceviche ...the best I've ever tasted and I've lived here since '88......and chicken and lime soup ("sopa de limon")...super tasty. Two of us, both stuffed hopelessly, less than $20.00US between us.

Sweet Basil a must. Go around midday, waddle away about 4:00pm totally satisfied. Expect to pay about $25-40US per person for a couple of drinks and exceptional food.

The new restaurant at Sunbreeze also very good (a bit pricier, but still good value)

Great pizza at Sharks Bar and even better pizza at Jerry's Crab Shack.
