In AC for 10 days beginning April 14th. Anyone willing to share where the best Margaritas on AC are? None of the froofroo frozen stuff, OK? ...rocks with lots of salt. Thanks!

As A restaurant/bar owner whose favorite drink is the marguarita I can tell you the best ones I experienced were at the Purple Parrot/Ramons & Capt. Morgans. Mrs. Zeke will verify that I have sampled many in my long career!

I'm not a margarita drinker but I'm sure a number of bars and restaurants on the island can do a good one.

Keep in mind, though, that any drink using imported booze, including tequila, will cost two to three times as much as a local rum drink (or a drink using locally produced vodka or other liquor.)

I'm normally a gin and tonic drinker but in Belize I always drink rum and tonic -- usually around US$2 versus $5 or $6 for a G&T.

As Lan says, "When in Rome", I like "white rum" with mineral water and lime, lite and refreshing. For something a little heaver, "white or gold rum" w/ pina(pineapple) or grapefruit juice. You can also have you "margaritas" made with "gold rum", not the same, but not all that bad. "rum and coke with lime" for a drink a litter sweeter, don't say "cuba libra", "Cuba is not Free"!

Just my ideas of avoiding high bar bills..

Have a good time.......

Which reminds me of a story of driving my golf cart back from Captain Morgans to BC's for a nightcap. I had a couple of too many margs and I almost drive off the ferry getting back to San Pedro.I'm weaving violently all over the dirt road when I finally get back on dry land. A cop pulls me over and asks, "Where have you been?"

"I've been to the Capn' Morgans," I slur.
"Well," says the cop, "it looks like you've had quite a few."
"I did alright, I didn't even drive into the water" I say with a smile.
"Did you know," says the cop, standing straight and folding his arms, "that a few intersections back, your wife fell out of your car?"
"Oh, thank heavens," I sigh. "For a minute there, I thought I'd gone deaf."

I believe the "When in Rome. . ." But, I am a tequila and margarita drinker myself ocassionally. I brought my own bottle of gold for my room. I also really liked the margaritas at La Margarita.

Ununh, Choochoo --- a margarita's a cool breeze blowin' offa Hell with a bit of a salty aftertaste (like the beach on a windy day). No silly umbrellas in my margarita, please. It's them froofroo folks who drink 'em frozen with their pinkies held up that collect the umbrellas...
