Managing Adaptation to Environmental Change in Coastal Communities: Canada and the Caribbean. A Climate Change Awareness programme will be held in San Pedro as part of the Project.
You are invited to attend a workshop on managing adaptation to environmental change in coastal communities at the Lion's Den on Thursday, September 26th, 2013 at 6:00 pm.
As you may know, one of the objectives of the IDRC-funded ICURA/C-CHANGE project, of which you are a part, is to build climate change capacity and awareness in the San Pedro community. We hope to do this by the development of awareness and the mobilization of knowledge within each community. To this end, we have prepared a training programme on climate change awareness and adaptation, which we hope to share with you at a workshop in San Pedro, involving members of the San Pedro community. We want this workshop to be interactive and would like you to engage us as much as possible as we do not believe that we have all the answers. Indeed, we may be wrong in some of the ideas we may have.
This time around, we are targeting the adult community and we would like to have your assistance in identifying appropriate community members to take part in these sessions, which may include government officials and public servants. One of our objectives is to identify members of your community who may use our (and other) materials to conduct the awareness sessions, similar to the one we are now planning, and we are seeking your guidance in identifying such persons as well.
We are also targeting primary and secondary schools but that may be for a later date.
