Just read this on Trip Advisor's Travel Guide for Belize:

Beware--ATMs in San Pedro ambergris caye do NOT accept USD bank cards. Bring cash with you. Do not assume you will be able to withdraw cash from an ATM upon arrival.

Is this true? I have read otherwise in this forum, at least I think so. I know you'll get your cash in Belizean money, but I thought that the bank atms would accept US Bank Cards. Please let me know what is really correct in San Pedro.

I have a USBank atm card. Have used it to withdraw money at the Scotia Bank ATM in town for at least 3 years now.(Probably 20-30 withdrawls)) Never had a problem.

That information is incorrect.

You need to ensure that your pin is only 4 digits but this is true most anywhere you travel in the world. That may have been the reviewer's problem. Hmm, also how old was the review? Regardless, I've been using ATM at Belize Bank for years.

A fish and a bird can fall in love, but where will they build their nest?

The customer just needs to be aware that they will be receiving Belize Dollars, not USD from the machine.

Thanks for proving to me that my knowledge was indeed correct. I appreciate it.
