From Phyllis at Ektun, noon yesterday:
I've had at least another 2" starting from around midnight, and the river has come up to nearly the level of the big surge of Friday night 2 weeks ago. It looks like it will stay this way for a while. Black Rock road is under water again, and I can hear activity getting people in and out. The rain, roar of the river and all the waterfalls gushing down the mountains is so loud I can barely hear anything happening around here...
from a friend in Consejo
It will pass but we need to grow web feet up here in Consejo until then!!!!. The road flooded last week again with less rain than we got last night and all day today. I September we had to go to town by boat on the bay. There were lots of sinkholes forming as well as the 2 to 4 feet of water. The trees were looking great and the weeds growing fast but if this continues we will have to watch out for fungus and mould growing on the trees!!Many of the early varieties of avocado will lose thier blossoms as will the few citrus we still have!! The joys of being farmers!!
