Does anyone have a recommendation for a tour to the Tikal ruins in Guatemala from Caye Caulker? I know that it would be impossible to travel and see everything in one day, but is there a way to possibly fly instead of take a bus to save time? Cost?

My daughter and I flew from San Pedro to Flores ... when in Flores you are still well over an hour from Tikal. There were people who left about the same time as we did and took the ferry to Belize city where they were picked up and took by van all the way, they had nothing but good to say about their trip and spent much less than we did ... we saved some van time by flying but it was about $300pp with duties .. not to include the guide at Tikal or the room in Flores .. We got a hotel by the lake and there are some nice restaurants / few bars. It was a long 1.5 day and a little less than 1000 US. I suggest taking the ferry and van's... enjoy the trip and the sights along the way.

You are really going to enjoy Tikal. If possible request Berta Zepeda for your guide...she is a walking encyclopedia of Mayan culture. They also serve a great lunch that comes with the tour.
Bring water and light clothes. Impossible to see in one day. I stayed in town at a nice hotel right on the water. Prices were very reasonable w/pool AC and extremely friendly staff. Enjoy!!
If you call and get Berta she can arrange comfortable and personable transportation for you. Tropic Air takes you to the closet town and that un-named hotel is very close. Sorry I can't remember the name....senior moments are ganging up one me.
I'd send a photo of the hotel but have problems posting photos and short films on the website.

The hotels in the Park are a bit pricey but worth it to us for one night. The jungle comes into the hotel. Monkeys in the yard. We played with a baby jaguar and a half grown ocelot that were found by rangers and raised in the hotel but could go and come as they wanted.
In the Tikal Hotel they told us a Guat family tried to take a half grown Jaguar home by carrying it to the car while petting it. They closed all the windows to put on the air cond.
After a mile or so the car began weaving all over the road and crashed.
I guess the cat wanted to leave the car. Only one person was hospitalized but the car was trashed.

There are places to stay right at the park entrance if you want to spend a little extra and wake up to howler monkeys and an early start up the trail.
Google tikal national park accommodations
We liked the Jaguar.

We stayed at Camino Real as well, loved it. Another choice would be to take a bus to San Ignacio, spend the night and take the full day tour from there, lots cheaper.
