I'm new to this site, but was curious if there is a topic I should look for to get a better idea of what to pack, clothing wise. I've heard that San Pedro is very casual and nothing more than shorts, shirts, sandals and swimwear are needed. Correct? (I tend to over pack, so I'm trying to change my ways!)

Thanks in advance!

No need to overpack. Nothing on the island requires a pair of long pants. Most walk in sandals or barefooted. Bring snorkel gear, suntan lotion, and maybe some bug spray. Occasionally get a few mosquitoes but nothing too bad.

Great, thank you! Are there night clubs there?

Yes there are night clubs but not what you'd expect nor probably want to attend. Jaguar.....We do the daytime fun. Fido's, Palapa, and whatever looks like fun that day. The mornings are usually diving or fishing, As far as clothes......I only pack in a back pack and always have enough for a week. Shorts, trunks, tanks, a couple t's, toiletries.... The wife packs the same. We do check one bag with our dive gear. Obviously we get the dive tanks and weight there. Where are you coming from and when do you arrive?

Great information, thanks. We're in Dallas and going on March 4 for one week. My husband and friends dive, but I don't. I want to fish, go cave tubing, snorkeling and whatever else that's fun. I've heard it's wonderful and the daytime bars are fun. Really excited! Would appreciate any other tips on what to do and where to go!

If headed over to go cave tubing, zip-lining, or exploring the Mayan ruins on the mainland, MAKE SURE to take long pants and a long sleeved shirt as well as comfortable walking shoes.

Other than that, it was shorts, t-shirts and swimsuits the entire time, my girl friends wore the occasional sun dress =) I don't think I even needed my sandals or shoes for most of my trip either.

We never went to Jaguar's or Big Daddy's - but there's something going on at one bar/restaurant or another every single night!

All you need will fit in one regulation carry-on bag - any more and you have over packed!

The challenge for me is less cloths to make space for more cameras.
