I have had numerous conversations with the BTB and the Minister of Tourism about the lack of emergency medical response on the island. Think about all of the mishaps over the years that people needed immediate medical care. Boating, SCUBA, drunk golf carters, swimming, snorkeling etc. All high risk activities. Now throw in the accidents at home and regular medical emergencies. It's a busy place.

The number one tourist island in the world should provide better care for its guests. IMHO

The island has some very unique problems for providing proper fire service to the residents.
It is only a matter of time until a fire starts in one of the downtown buildings on a windy day and the entire area will be destroyed.
And the island has far more fires than most small towns of the same population.

I agree.......the government is operating on a "we hope it doesn't happen" attitude as opposed to "let's be prepared if it does happen". The downtown area has a potential to be decimated if a fire under the right weather conditions were to be started. If they were to just prepare under the assumption that there would be no tourism on the Island. The situation is so incredibly fragile that is has been a miracle that something more catastrophic has not happened. The odds are that it will happen and the country will be in a greater economic hurt than it is already in.

Does anyone have an internet link or facebook page specifically for the San Pedro Fire Department?
