Weekly Weather Outlook for Belize
September 8-15, 2014
Summary: A deep and moist easterly airflow will prevail over the NW Caribbean during this working week. This is typical of September climatology, after the below normal rainfall conditions that prevailed across the country during the first half of the 2014 rainy season (June through August, 2014), which impacted the main corn crop that was planted later than normal. Model forecast (NOAA-GFS) is resolving an active tropical wave moving over Belize during Wednesday (see NHC 72-hr forecast map). This feature will be coupled with an upper level, diffluent ridge circulation, favorable for further widespread outbreaks of thunderstorms, especially inland over the Orange Walk, Cayo and Toledo districts.

Last night on Ambergris Caye we received a lot of rain and this morning it's over cast and cool. The reef is churned up from the winds of the evening. The expected high is 88f.

From Belmopan... 10:00 BZT

Rain, Rain last night, I recorded 64mm ( 2") due to that largish, very intense ITCZ activity right above Belize.

As you can see, there is a lot of activity going on around us at present.. . . . .What with Hurricane Odile to the west of us, which is having some effect on our weather. . . ...That wet air now south of Florida getting caught up in the spill off from the LOW that was sitting over Belize last night, and Tropical Storm Edouard which is now on its way across the Atlantic, but should not get any where near us. . . .There is a lot of activity out there.

The Radar stopped again last night, before the worst of the Rain on us, but is working again, showing thinner and scattered rain areas still around, mainly over central coastal Belize, these will be dying out as the day warms up.

So I am expecting some, not much, but some possible rain shower in any part of Belize, possible a few breaks in the cloud, giving occasional glimpses of the sun, but not much. . . .. Presently little or no wind at ground level and not much showing at higher levels.
