Weekly Weather Outlook for Belize
September 15-22, 2014
Summary: Weekend showers dying off by early Tuesday giving way to little rainfall thereafter, until early Sunday through Monday and Tuesday next, when showers will increase over all regions of the country. Upper diffluence over the SW Caribbean is generating moderate to deep convection in that region of the western Caribbean. Elsewhere in the western Caribbean and Belize, subsiding air continues to suppress scattered shower activity. The surface analysis for 6:00 am Wednesday, Sep 17, 2014 (Figure 1) shows a weak pressure gradient over northern Central America and the NW Caribbean. Meanwhile, a tropical wave is approaching the Lesser Antilles. Another westward tracking tropical wave is located in the central, tropical Atlantic, while a disturbance will evolve from an active monsoon trof over West Africa.

From Belmopan... 09:00 BZT

There are scattered showers out there, these are springing up down south near the coast and others up in the north areas. .. .. .They are not really moving in any particular direction. . . . .The surface wind is presently from the SW, but that will be replaced by the Easterly wind later today.

Presently a lot of cloud around, but there is a little bit of blue sky occasionally.

This cloudy area, extending from Florida, down over Belize on on to the Pacific, does not appear to be moving much, mainly just bubbling around.

So I expect there will be cloud around, but low cloud and higher cloud for much of the day, there will be some sun occasionally and there could be rain occasionally, almost anywhere.

What the heck do you call what blew through Cayo yesterday! Knocked over some trees and the thunder had our animals terrified.

ITCZ activity. . .Any significant Thunder storm or serious Cumulus Nimbus ( Black cloud) development can cause serious, strong side winds and or Down Draughts, often called Micro-bursts. . .Typically associated with heavy rain, but that heavy rain might not be on you, but it will not be that far away from you.

There was TORRENTIAL rain in Springfield, high winds, and quite a few million volts of electricity sprayed around. I have a word for it but its not very polite....

Thanks, It's amazing how quickly it changes. This lasted only seconds.
It looks like a calm week ahead. That's a relief since I'm on the water everyday.

Two smallish ITCZ areas building up in the Yucatan, which might just spread down into northern Belize later today, this evening, bringing possible rain.. . . .Which could even bring the odd scattered shower to any part of Belize this afternoon.

Showers increasing and spreading, as the day cools down. . . . They are not really moving in any direction, just developing and spreading out.
