The approaching cold front crossing Belize at present dumped rain on the Old Capital last night and this morning, causing several recently repaired concrete streets to flood. One of the frequent culprits is Orange Street between Cemetery Road and West Street, in front of the Salvation Army, which was almost impassable just after ten this morning. Another, Alexandria Street, was a bit better not completely free of flooding.
Conditions are expected to improve as the system crosses with much of the rainfall contained to inland areas. Still, it does shed some light on the lack of drainage under the various infrastructure programs in the City whether by Central Government or the Belize City Council under Mayor Darrell Bradley, a situation they have been trying to correct.
