The Fisheries Department hereby informs the PUBLIC that it will start the renewal of fisher folk licenses for 2015 on December 01st 2014.

Licensing in San Pedro is scheduled for December 16, at the Hol Chan office, 8am - 5pm


Applicants are advised that they must present the following documents when applying:

1. FISHERFOLK LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
NEW ENTRANTS

BELIZEAN
(a) Applicant must be 18 years or older and
(b) Present a valid Social Security Card or
(c) Voters Identification Card along with a Birth Certificate or
(d) Valid Passport

NATURALIZED BELIZEAN
(a) Applicant must be 18 years or older and
(b) Present Nationality Certificate and valid Social Security Card or
(c) Valid Passport

PERMANENT RESIDENT
(a) Applicant must be 18 years or older and
(b) Present Residence Stamp on valid Passport and
(c) Present a valid Social Security Card

In addition to the aforementioned requirements ALL applicants must pay the required fees and present the following information:
(a) *Proof of residency (Copy of one recent (3 months) utility bill: Electricity, Water or Telephone) and
(b) **Proof of sale in Belize (Receipts of sale of fishery products from fishermen cooperative, restaurant, hotel, etc.)

Note:
*If no utility bill is available then the applicant is required to present the last three (3) months rental receipt and, an affidavit or letter from the landlord stating that the applicant is residing at his/her residence for the last three (3) months and this must be signed by a Justice of the Peace.
**If the receipt is not in the name of the applicant, the person whose name appears on the receipt should authorize the applicant, in writing, to use the bill.

2. ALL RENEWALS

RENEWALS ONLY
(a) Fishers must submit all their last expired fisher folk/ vessel license
(b) Fill Fisher folk renewal application form
(c) Compliance with daily catch log (for Port Honduras Marine Reserve and Glover's Reef Marine Reserve Managed Access license renewals)
(d) Fill out socioeconomic form (for Port Honduras Marine Reserve and Glover's Reef Marine Reserve Managed Access license renewals)

3. BOAT LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
(a) Owner or master of the vessel must PRESENT a valid commercial fisher folk license.
(b) Vessel must PRESENT a valid Sea Worthy Certificate issued by the Belize Port Authority

4. CARD REPLACEMENT
The fisher must present the receipt issued by the Police Department or the report stating the loss of the license (Fisher folk or Boat License).

The Belize Fisheries Department hereby advices fishers and the general public that due to unforeseen technical issues, the licensing of fishers and vessels that was to be carried out in various coastal communities starting Monday December 15, 2014 has been postponed until early January 2015. The new dates for licensing being conducted in these communities will be circulated on a later date, via press release and radio announcements.However, the renewal of fisher and vessel licenses in Belize City will be done as per normal at the Licensing Office of the Belize Fisheries Department starting Monday December 15, 2014. The Department apologizes for any inconveniences this may cause to fishers. For any further information regarding this matter, please contact the Belize Fisheries Department at telephone numbers 224-4552 or 223-2623.

January 2015 Licensing

The Fisheries Department hereby informs the PUBLIC that a grace period will be given up until January 30th 2015 for the renewal of fisher folk licenses. The renewal of fisher folk licenses for 2015 began on December 01st 2014 at the Belize Fisheries Department, Belize City office.

Licensing in the fishing communities will commence on January 19th 2014. The following are the scheduled dates for licensing in the fishing communities. (SEE PHOTO BELOW)
