The San Pedro Police Department informs all 2015 Municipal Election candidates that all rules and regulations in reference to the election process will be strictly implemented. Officer in Charge of San Pedro Police, Superintendent Luis Castellanos has stated that extra measures will be taken to ensure that the Town Council Elections, scheduled for Wednesday, March 4th, run smoothly.

In addition, campaigners are advised that rowdy behavior will not be tolerated and that no form of political campaign will be allowed within the 100-yard buffer area. "Elections are right around the corner and we are preparing our officers ahead of time so that they are ready to handle the event. Within the next few weeks, we will be calling a meeting with all candidates and explain to them the rules and regulations of the Municipal Elections. We will also explain to them the behavior that is expected by the San Pedro Police Department in regards to party followers and campaigning on Election Day," said Superintendent Castellanos.

The polling station in San Pedro will be at the San Pedro High School. No political booth, banners, signs or campaigning will be allowed within a 100 yard radius of the polling area. This area includes the section of Spider Lily Street that runs from the beach to the junction of Laguna Drive (all the section in front of the high school entrance) and extends midway down Seagull Street. "One of the main rules that all candidates and campaigners need to adhere to is the 100-yard buffer area. We do not want any disorderly behavior in the polling station. We will be very strict with this rule and we will hold all the parties responsible for ensuring their party members also follow this rule," said Superintendent Castellanos.

The San Pedro Police will also be monitoring campaign efforts leading up to elections in an effort to avoid altercations. Superintendent Castellanos would like to take the opportunity to advise all island residents to try their best to make the 2015 Municipal Elections a peaceful one.

Nomination Day is set for February 11th

With municipal elections just over two weeks away, political parties across the country are preparing for the first big step before the electorates go to the polls. The first big show of strength will take place on Nomination Day, which has been set by the Governor General of Belize for Wednesday February 11th. The Elections and Boundaries Department, the legal body that will take charge of the nomination and election process, have been meeting with the political parties to educate them about the process.

For Nomination Day, The People's United Party (PUP) will be allowed the hours of 10AM and midday to be nominated. From midday to 2PM, any independent or third party candidates will be allowed for nomination. Meanwhile the United Democratic Party (UDP) has been allowed from 2PM to 4PM to be nominated. Griffith said that political representatives on the island have agreed to that format in their first meeting. He also indicated that boundaries and other rules for Election's Day have also been agreed upon.

They eventually came to a stop in front of the San Pedro Town Council on Barrier Reef Drive shortly around 10:30AM, still full of energy.

This VIP team is giving the islanders an option to vote out corruption."
