From Belmopan...
That cold air came over Belize last night, I recorded 12.3mm ( 1/2" ) rain last night, starting just before midnight. . . . .The cloud coming down from the Gulf, over Mexico with winds from the NNW. . .. . .There is an odd stream of air, streaming down from the NNE, between this Gulf air and the Caribbean winds, which are now diverted up in an air flow from the SSE. . . . .And there is a lot of high level cloud still from the SW, keeping things cooler by blocking much of the Sun out.
The net result is thick cloud for much, probably all day long. . . Continuing some light rain occasionally. . . Unlikely to see any sun today.
Stay inside, keep warm. . . .I told you we might have a White Christmas, that is White Clouds above us. . :-)
9:30pm
Hard to judge what will happen over night and into tomorrow morning.
There are abut 4 different air flows over Belize right now. . .First the cloud appears to be thinning in the north. . . Now it looks as if Caribbean air is beginning to win, so more cloud building up along the coast, so could even be rain tonight or tomorrow.. .But nothing very clear.
Light rain developed overnight and measured 0.58 in or about 14 mm by noon of today. The band of showers has stalled off the Belize coast as the hot dry air is attempting to push westward. So now there is a battle going on between the cold air and the hot. Will see who is winning in the morning. The cool rain last night was great for the garden.
