An early morning fire has destroyed a building and equipment valued over one hundred and forty thousand dollars belonging to Grand Colony Resort in San Pedro Town. After two on Wednesday morning, San Pedro Police responded to a 911 call at Grand Colony Resort on Sea Grape Drive where a wooden carpenter’s workshop was on fire. The Fire Department put out the blaze two and half hours later. According to police, the security guard at Grand Colony reported that he was on routine patrols on the property when he noticed smoke coming from inside the building. He tried to open the door, but the workshop was already engulfed in flames. Neither the building nor its contents were insured. The Fire Department is still investigating this fire.
Fire at Grand Colony Resort in San Pedro
There was a fire in San Pedro early Wednesday morning. A Carpenter’s workshop went up in a blaze at the Grand Colony Resort located on Sea Grape Drive, San Pedro Town.
The structure, a wooden building, approximately 30’ x 50’, was on fire sometime after 2 o’clock that morning.
The security guard for Grand Colony reported that while conducting routine patrols on the compound, he noticed smoke coming from inside the building. He then opened the door but the fire inside was already out of control so he immediately alerted the police.
The building was completely gutted by flames and all its contents destroyed.
According to the general manager, the structure is valued at $75,000.00 and its contents which included various heavy machinery and equipment are valued at $65,100.00 . Neither the building nor its contents were insured.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by Fire Department personnel.
