Hi there! I have been watching the message board for a few weeks now and I know a lot of you are there the first week of May - and staying at the Banana Beach. I am really looking forward to this trip.....My question is about having to take all the medical shots before I go. Are the Hep A & B and Typhoid really necessary? I think all my other questions have been aswered! Thanks for your help. cindy

The only shots I took were the ones at Mata Rocks of Tequilla. All joking aside, unless you are in the jungle for the majority of your trip I wouldn't waste my time. But that's just me. Have a great time and hope to see you there in May.

A person should have their tetanus up to date anyway, and nowadays Hep A should be standard too. Not mater where you are but for Caribbean travel it is wise.

Did you know that you could get Hep B from deep kissing? Anyone not in a monogamous relationship might want to think about that.

Yep, those shots at Mata Rocks sure do the trick! Also, at BCs, the Palapa, etc......

When we went to Costa Rica a few years ago I didn't need any shots for that (got Hep A shot just in case) and we were out trekking through the jungle etc. So I doubt you'd need anything for Belize. We took precautionary malaria medication but that won't be necessary in Belize -- especially out on Ambergris.
