Belize Special Olympics Athletes to Participate in the Special Olympics World Games 2015 in Los Angeles

Members of the Belize Special Olympics team will be travelling from Belize to participate in the Special Olympics Games of 2015 to be held in Los Angeles from July 25 – August 2, 2015.

The four (4) Belizean athletes who will be participating in the sport of Bocce are, Jasmine Flores, Anna Emmanuel, Jayna Locke and Llda Romero. Heading up the delegation is Elodia Bautista along with Assistant Head of Delegation, Dr. Nelson Marin and Head Coach Kady Kerr.

In response to a request from Special Olympics World Games, the Consulate of Belize, as well as other members from the Consular Corps of Los Angeles, agreed to coordinate visits for their respective countries. Because of her previous experience in working with the Los Angeles Fall Special Olympics in 2013 and 2014, Consul General Hon. Roland Yorke, has appointed Mrs. Tera Pollard-Reneau to be the Chief Coordinator for the Consulate in this project. He has also secured a pledge of support from the Consortium for Belizean Development Inc., Western Region.

Chief Coordinator Reneau is appealing to all Belizeans to attend the events when Team Belize is playing. As reported by Belize Special Olympics, the athletes will be playing from July 23- August 1, 2015. All the games played in the Special Olympics are free. Subsequent information will follow on how to sign up to attend the games.
