Saga Pasta Spectacular cook off
On Tuesday, July 14th, Saga Humane Society supporters indulged in delicious pasta dishes at the monthly cook-off. The fundraising event was hosted at Crazy Canucks under the theme “Pasta Spectacular.” The event also included raffle prizes and saw a total of eight food entries. Despite a slow start, by the end of the evening, there was a great turn out of supporters who enjoyed all the fine pasta dishes presented. All proceeds from the event went directly to Saga’s feeding program for unwanted pets of the island and their Spay/Neuter Initiative program (SNIP).
The dishes ranged from cheesy chicken pasta, lasagna, to south of the border pasta, and even creative dishes like pizzaghetti. For a contribution of $20, attendees had the opportunity to sample all the dishes. Meanwhile, for a cost of $40, 20 VIP guests skipped the line and received their plate of food on their private table along with bar service. The array of dishes included: Crazy Canucks’ Cheesy Chicken pasta, Brittney O’Daniel’s Sand Bar lasagna, Dawn LoCosico’s Kugel, Nancy Nida’s hot damn island pasta, Jen Wochner’s pizzaghetti, Doug Kelly’s south of the border pasta, Samantha Cobb’s Texas ranch pasta and Krista Agramonte’s authentic lasagna.
After the great eating, and between live music and raffle prizes, votes were cast for the best dish of the evening. The third place went to Krista of Crazy Canuck’s, while Jen Wochner took second place. The grand first place prize went to Dawn Locascio for her delicious and irresistible Kugel!
