Does anyone know if there are any places to rent boats to take out on your own? It's my first time to AC and haven't found any info except for the guided rentals and tours.

no, because of the dangers of navigating around the reef, only experienced folks handle the boats...

Like Marty said most boating is best left to the proffesionals. If you would like to do a little sight seeing and messing arouns we have jet skis, watermice and a boat we call a stingray we rent. Check out our website: www.barefootwatersports.net

Thanks for the info! We do a lot of snorkeling and we heard it was dangerous to swim from the shore to the reef, because of all the boat traffic. So we were just looking for something to get us past the traffic and to the reef.
