Is it worth renting a kayak for a week or are the winds to strong? I will be staying about 2.5 miles south of San Pedro and wanted to paddle out and snorkel on the reef. Any tips or suggestions? Thanks...

It depends on the time of year. March is usually windy with wrong waves.
Take only pictures leave only bubbles

Reef is pretty far offshore in the south.
Only 1/4 mile offshore when you get north about 4 miles.

At 2.5 miles south the reef is just short of a mile offshore. It wouldn't be a good idea to do it in a strong north either unless you're a very strong paddler.

We live 2.5 miles South....My Kayak sits on the beach ready to go at a moments notice.....When the sea is calm in the morning I'll take it and my dog out.....(my chihuahua does not like the wind)....Usually in a North/East direction, so that when the winds pick up I have an easy ride home...... I would have gone the last 2 days and even this morning......However, not one day last week. ...In addition I use great caution and react to other boats as if they cannot see me......The Water traffic can be heavy this time of year...... Hope this helps.....
