Our travel agent has recommended these 3 places in our price range and likings. Wondering if anyone can help us make a decision.

We're looking for a clean, friendly place that is not too close nor too far from activities. We want our privacy but we don't want to be totally isolated either. We'd love a beach cabana or at least a stellar view of the water to wake up to. Pool, hammocks and a bar would be a bonus.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I would recommend that you write to bananabeach@btl.net to get more information about the resort. Also i just like to mention that the resort is about 1 1/4 miles south of town in a great area. Many retaurants at walking distance and they also have bikes and golf carts for rent.

Pretty much everything you've asked for seems to be at the Seven Seas. We'll be there in mid June for a week and were looking for basically everything you mentioned. When we get back we'll post a trip report and let you know. Larry

Banana Beach and The Palms are both condotels and are similar in some ways. Both have pools and nice accommodations. The Palms has one and two-bedroom units, and Banana Beach has one-bedroom suites. Banana Beach is expanding, roughly doubling in size and adding another pool plus a restaurant. One difference is the location -- The Palms is at the south edge of town, whereas Banana Beach is about 1 1/2 miles south of town.

Capricorn is quite different, in that it is on North Ambergris (a sizeable hike/bike, golf cart ride or a water taxi from town) and has just three small cabins. They are fine, but less roomy and less luxe than the suites at Banana Beach and The Palms. Also, there's no pool. Capricorn's main business is its restaurant, rather than the hotel.

I think you would like The Palms. The pool
is lovely and it is not that far from the
action...
