People from UK living elsewhere in EU countries have to go home? Not a Belize question, but curious.

Why is the news so negative about this. It's going to make Great Britain powerful again and we are going to benefit as a Commonwealth member. Good for us, good for them and screw interference from the EU that never had our interests at heart.

Elbert that is not true. I don't know if you are paying attention but Scotland voted overwhelmingly to stay in the EU....and the SNP prime minister just stated that Scotland will hold a second independence vote within 2 years. If that happens, Scotland will leave and Northern Ireland will likely follow because the EU will offer them the world just to get back at England. England will be reduced to a spec of an island, similar to commonwealth islands in the Caribbean....the reason why this is important for Belizeans is because the UK secures our defense....and if they no longer exist, what stops Guatemala?

We won't benefit as a Commonwealth member, we will suffer as will the UK. Add to that the same people that voted out of the EU are the same people that would like to see places like Belize cut off and left to their own defenses.

Short term there will be some adjustments and it will be viewed negative. Longer term, I believe this is good for Great Britain. The references to the prime minister of Scotland maybe a little premature. Things will settle down in a relatively short while.

Why the people of Britain would want to give up their sovereign rights to an unelected group in Europe is beyond me. The economy of Britain has done much better than Europe and has not had the problems with uncontrolled immigration like Europe has. Europe does not seem to be on a good path and to join them on their journey doesn't seem the wisest thing to do to me.

The markets in the USA has settled down a little as of this moment and I believe everyone is beginning to realize that the sky is not falling. I'm looking for opportunity but the reaction was not as bad so far as I thought it could be. In a few weeks it will be a mere blip. Belize will be just fine and if anything this may strengthen British defense spending and posture.

That's a lot of speculation and what ifs for the oncoming years. I'm staying positive and expect Great Britain to flourish outside of the EUs dictation.

I think we all hope the ultimate result is positive. Appreciate the insights offered by both sides of the question.
I think the adjustment is going to be painful though ...... Most adjustments are.

On the subject of defense of Belize ..... the US Southern Command is based here, and that seems to be a pretty solid defense, no?
