I've seen some references to "Bun Man Pizza" and how wonderful it is. Tell me more!
I will be in AC April 6 for first time and making a list of all those special favorites I would like to try out. THANKS

c'mon!! you can get pizza at home any-ole-time. try the conch fritters, fryjacks, beef patties, cerveche, burritos, and jerk first!

Unfortunately, i don't have their phone number back here in the states, but the 2 times we've ordered from the Bunman our pizzas were great. That's not to say there isn't a wealth of great food on the island--usually I eat seafood daily there. But when the urge for pizza hits, they are the ones to call. We had a pizza party for some neighbor kids and it was an interesting challenge to bike to the Lion's Park where I met up with the Bunman, got a large pizza and then peddled my bike back down south to my place without crashing and losing it! Always an adventure on AC! Have a great trip.

EAT PIZZA ONLY IF IT IS NOT LOBSTER SEASON. the menu in belize has greatly expanded. the first time i was there i ate stewed chicken rice and beans at least once a day and it was delicious.

Although this is my first trip to AC, I do travel to Akumal Mexico every year and I am NEVER there during lobster season. I like eating at out-of-the-way places and enjoy eating where the locals eat. The food is usually yummy and very inexpensive. Although I've seen the posts about eating from the street vendors, that's a little scary! I try to avoid the larger restaurants where all the tourists flock. I've posted a few messages on this board, but have basically been a "lurker". I have a folder full of printouts of posts that people have stated their favorite places to eat. I'll be heading for the bakery for sure! You'll be able to spot me after April 6, lying in a hammock in front of Coral Bay Villas with a pastry in one hand and a book in the other....sound asleep! Thanks for all the good information.

We are Akumal regulars also, but I won't be afraid to eat from vendors, the food in SP is not a problem like Mexico. I even ate the vendor food in Akumal, and surrounding areas, only cooked foods thought, never had a revenge problem.
Looking forward to the food experience, also hoping to find a cookbook with local recipes in San Pedro, anyone have a recommendation?

beachgirl, you will giggle when you see what a "larger restaurant" is in AC! this is a little town, hon. there are no big places! take the time to look at the photo gallery from the home page. that's it...the whole town!

In my idea of getting away from civilization, if 30-50 people can fit into the restaurant - that's too big a gathering for me! I prefer the few tables under a palapa style dining.
