We arrive the first of December for a two week stay. We are interested in the Zoo/Xunan trip using either Tropic Air or Mayan for the transportation. We would like to hear from some who have done this or know of it. Questions I have are- do you need a minimum number of people and would certain days of the week work better. I would have liked to do the Zoo/cave tubing but, my lovely wife is worried the caves would feel too close to her. Many years ago we took a boat trip thru a cave that got low and it creeped her out. Thanks all.

The Zoo and Xunantunich in one trip is a lot.

The way I always recommend the zoo to people, though, is go on the last night of your trip. Sleep there in their Tropical Education Center and go on their amazing nocturnal tour (the cats and a lot of other animals are much more active at night and a small group will likely have the place to itself). They serve an excellent dinner and breakfast and they will take you to the airport in the morning. It's a great way to end your Belize trip

Noelle's suggestion related to an overnight at the zoo is BRILLIANT. Do it. For sure. You will depart Belize with a smile on your face and joy in your heart.

We won't be able to stay the night at Tropical Education Center this trip. Wish we would have planned for such a thing earlier. I am still interested in a day trip to the Zoo by air. I believe this journey is a 8- 8 1/2 hour trip going to both the Zoo and Xunan. Is this too little time to see both and should we spend 6 1/2 to 7 hours at the Zoo only? What Tour operaters offer this? Would it be easier on time to go to the Zoo then tube? THX

Fly San Pedro to Maya Flats. Guide drives you to Xunantunich for tour. Then cave tubing, zoo and drop off at Municipal to fly back to the caye

eldaveo.....The Zoo is worth every effort and I love Noelle's suggestion for a nocturnal tour....With regard to the cave tubing, we enjoyed the caves.... The entrance was big enough for a few people to enter at the same time on tubes and the inside is larger than many cathedrals....You will have headlamps and a tour guide nearby along with openings in the cave throughout the tour....We were a group of six that was able to stay together and not feel crowded or enclosed....We would certainly go again.....Wishing you a great vacation in Belize.... smile

Flying, you should have no problem doing both as a day trip. You'll have a great time!
