San Pedro Holiday Boat Parade

Come Celebrate at one of the most colorful events of the year. The San Pedro Holiday Boat Parade.

It has become a yearly attraction in Ambergris Caye, Belize, the San Pedro Holiday Boat Parade is an impressive show of talent, lights, creativity and holiday cheer! Visitors from abroad are now booking their vacations around the lighted boat parade celebrations that highlight the start of the season’s celebrations in Belize.

Businesses, private boats and charity/non-profit organizations run wild with their imaginations and strings of lights to create masterpieces that shine bright and cheerful at sea. The Holiday Boat Parade is one of its kind in the region and is promising to attract even more participants from neighboring countries.

The traditional event ushers in the holiday season, and brightens the coast of San Pedro with twinkling lights, happy people and Christmas carols galore. Adding to the spirit of the event, all proceeds from the event will benefit ‘Raise Me Up’, a charitable organization on the island which is also organizing the boat parade committee this year.

This year’s event promises to bring an evening filled with spectacular lights, food, cash prizes and giveaways. Boats will line up at Wayo’s Beach Bar and then proceed southwards to Crazy Canuck’s Beach Bar. There will be official viewing stations along the way where observers can watch the parade. The viewing stations will also have a special show courtesy of a brand new Fly boarding Company, which uses water jet packs to fly around out of the water. This amazing spectacle will only be available at viewing stations which include Wayo’s Beach Bar, Sandbar, Palapa Bar, Nook Restaurant, Estel’s, Wild Mangos, Blue Water Grill and Crazy Canuck’s.

Upon arriving at Crazy Canuck’s, the boats will make their way back to Sandbar, where the awards ceremony will take place, and winners will receive cash and other prizes awarded. There will also be 50/50 raffles, silent auctions, music and much to eat and drink. Tickets for the 50/50 raffle will be sold at all viewing stations, with the winning raffle ticket to be drawn at Sandbar at the end of the parade. The winner will take home 50% of the overall pot, while the other 50% will go to Raise Me Up.

Judges will be stationed at Wet Willy’s dock, observing and selecting their favourites. In addition, for a fee of $150BZ, you can get a VIP front row seat in a boat that will follow the parade. This fee will include food and drinks. Fees collected from those wanting to ride along will also benefit Raise Me Up. Seats are limited, so interested persons are urged to make reservations ahead of time at the above official viewing stations.

There is no registration fee to enter the parade, and according to organizers, in many cases, they provide an allowance to purchase lights and decorations for the boats. Organizers have announced that this year, they are anticipating giving away more cash prizes than any other boat parade in history.

They would to thank everyone who has extended their assistance so far to make this event possible once again. The 2016 goal this year is to have as many boats as possible in the parade, so everyone is encouraged to participate.

Any business can sponsor the boat parade, and sponsorships start at $500. For more information on sponsorship or to find out more about the event, send an email to sanpedroboatparade@gmail.com or call 630-1241.

2016 Holiday Lighted Boat Parade brings the Christmas Season to Ambergris Caye

The coast of San Pedro Town was once again brightly lit with elaborately decorated boats during the annual Holiday Lighted Boat parade held on Saturday, December 17th. The traditional event, which officially brings in the Christmas holiday season, saw residents and visitors flock to the beach and docks along the parade route to view the colorfully lit vessels. All proceeds from the event went towards charitable organizations on the island, including Raise Me Up, who was part of the boat parade committee this year.

As the parade proceeded south, they passed the official viewing station at Skydive San Pedro’s dock, where judges got their first glance at the boats. The boats made their way to Crazy Canuck’s Beach Bar where they turned around to head back north for the judge’s second look. The parade ended at SandBar Beachfront Hostel and Restaurant, where the award ceremony took place. As the points were tallied, the crowd was treated to a fire dancing show. Following that, the winners of this year’s boat parade were announced.

Here's a look at last night's Holiday Boat Parade!!!

Nothing lights up Christmas in Belize like the Holiday Boat Parade in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye!

San Pedro’s Holiday Boat Parade Lights up the 2016 Christmas Season

Yesterday was the San Pedro Lighted Boat parade – 9 boats in total…people in costumes and Santa suits…candy and music…and swirling dancing boats parading along the shoreline.

As the sun fully set, YOLO went to take her spot in the parade…the boats were lining up in order. First a surprise. 2 Flyboarders all lit up with what looking like phantom jet skies behind them. One guy and one girl. The woman is Kristen Smoyer…the world champion flyboarder! Crazy.

And the boats. #1 Blue Attitude. Sponsored by Ecologic Divers – the Red Cross boat. #2. Sponsored by the Phoenix Resort. Boat by Chuck and Robbie’s Dive Shop. #3. Premier Divers. The new boutique diving shop. They went all solar with their lights. #4. Sponsored by Island Divers for the San Pedro AIDs Commission #5. Sponsored by 12 Belize. #6. Projects Abroad. #7. San Pedro Holiday Boat Parade Shines Brighter Each Year

Nothing short of a spectacular show of lights on the sea, the Holiday Boat Parade stepped up its entertainment by providing a SUPER light show by world class flyboarders Mark and Kristen who stunned the crowds with their acrobatics in the water. With their lighted wet suits jet packs they looked like ghostly spacemen in the dark night as powerful jet skies propelled them into the air.

There were nine boats in the competition this year and as usual hundreds of residents and visitors who crammed onto piers, beach areas and viewing stations to enjoy the spectacle of lights on the water. Lighting up the parade was a giant whale shark, a coquettish mermaid, two large cocktail glasses, a friendly nurse, christmas trees, AIDS/HIV Commission ribbon and of course the winning marlin. The San Pedro Holiday Boat Parade had another successful year.
