LoveFM's 6th Annual San Pedro Christmas Parade Keeps Getting Better

Last night was the big lighted Christmas LAND parade through downtown San Pedro. The lighted BOAT parade is next week on Saturday. I used to consider this one the new kid on the block but radio station has done such an amazing joband this parade just keeps getting bigger and better. This year was the longest, most well attended by dressed up children and threw out the most candy. Consider me the official Guinness book official of Ambergris Caye.

The parade officially started at 5:30pmand I was there a bit early. Manwhat a pretty night. Big bright moon, pinkish purple clouds threatening for a bit but just a tiny spritz.

This year, the main streets of town were filled with brightly lit floats and participants in themed costumes, while hundreds of residents lined the side of the streets for a prime view of the event.

The spectacular show saw elaborate and creative floats from the following organizations: The Rotary Club of Ambergris Caye, Foreva Fancy Boutique, Wings Department Store, ABC Pre-School, the Garifuna Council San Pedro Branch, The Saints Dance Crew, The San Pedro Town Council, Honourable Manuel Heredia Jr., San Pedro Leo's Club, San Pedro Roman Catholic Marching Band, Isla Bonita Elementary School, San Pedro Walkaholics, Rasta Rentals, and Social Security.

Shortly after 5:30PM, the line-up paraded from the Boca del Rio Park to the sounds of Christmas carols. Leading the parade was Mayor Daniel Guerrero, Councillors and staff handing out sweet treats to the spectators. Miss San Pedro, Marisha Thompson and Area Representative and Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation Honourable Manuel Heredia Jr., where also in front of the parade.

ABC once again brought the fun for the children by bringing Santa Claus, Spider Man, Batman, Wonder Woman, Prince Charming and Rudolph to pose for pictures and greet everyone. Belizean songstress Melonie Gillett serenaded the crowd with season's carols during the entire event. The parade ended at the Central Park in downtown San Pedro.
