Has anyone stayed overnight at Maruba resort? Pricing is a little steep...Considering a one night stay, see the ruins, then head over to AC the next day.

Taxi fare to Maruba Resort? The resort r/t transfers are $60.00 per person and $30.00 for a child... Do you think I could locate a local taxi for cheaper?

Maruba is a wonderful place to go and the people there are great. We have not spent the night there though. We go as a day trip from the island whenever we're in AC. You can also do day trips to the ruins from AC so staying at Maruba overnight is not necessary.

Beach Bound, I stayed two nights last May. It's a beautiful place - quiet yet only a 40 minute drive from Belize International. The food is world class and the spa treatments are too. It's pricey but you get your money's worth. I went to Altun Ha with one of their guides. I was with one other tourist and we were the only ones there (large groups come in the afternoon).
Last year the round trip transportation was $50 per person - so it's gone up. For me it was cheaper than a round trip taxi ride but for two or more people, the taxi would be the way to go (sorry, I have forgotten what the taxi fare was).

Taxis from Belize to Maruba are $60US for up to 4 people. You can catch a ride with the tour boats from Maruba to San Pedro for about $20-25US per person.

We stayed at Maruba resort the last two days of your vacation and loved it!!! It was the perfect way to end an incredible trip. It was a relaxing, romantic setting. We enjoyed the mood mud pack at the spa, which I would highly recommend. The people who had come for the one day trip didn't seem ready to leave and were trying to figure out how to come back and stay there. To us, it was well worth the money.

Is Maruba Resort the place that has the elevated dining area, above the canopy, in the outdoor dining/drinking area?
We pulled into a place like that a couple years ago for a few Belikins but i can't remember the name of the place!...Richard

Maruba is at mile 40 on the Old Northern Highway just past the village of Maskall. It has an elevated dining area, so it could be the place you are refering to.

My hubby and I had our picture taken in that elevated dining area at Maruba. The photo is on our website. Go look and you can probably tell if it's the place you stopped at or not. (The photo is on the right side, scroll down quite a ways).

Maruba Resort Jungle Spa® is a place forgotten by time. An oasis of Charm and Grace where everyday problems melt away. Not your traditional spa, Maruba offers an alternative to the regimen and routine. The resort has been conceived and created to blend various Mayan, Creole, and African designs side by side with our jungle setting. The result is dreamy, romantic, and totally relaxing.
