Marty Administrator Offline
It was part of the original plan
for the Belize City Tourism
Village, but is only just now
being put into place. A number
of water taxis, previously
working out of other locations
on the Haulover Creek, have
joined together to form the
Tourism Village Water Taxi Association. According
to association president-pro-tem Joe Marin, getting
to Caye Caulker and San Pedro will now be more
convenient than ever.

Joe Marin, Tourism Village Water Taxi Assoc.
"We have modern facilities here, we have very good
docking area, much better than what I have over
there. And it's a moving world, you've got to keep
moving up."

Stewart Krohn
"Up until this time, the main water taxi terminal has
been the marine terminal just up the Haulover Creek.
It there room do you believe for both that terminal
and this terminal to operate successfully?"

Joe Marin
"Yes, I do believe because I had my clients over there
and I advise everybody to come over here. We were
operating, Andrea was operating there, and we are
doing...but I think here is a much better place and we
should attract more people. The parking area over
there is good, a lot of people come by taxi and you
know the problem out there in the centre of town,
parking a taxi in the middle of the street to take off
passengers. The run is only a minute more, the taxis
can come in here, no hassle from the traffic warden
hassling them to hurry up and people are blowing.
They come in here, quite comfortable and unload their
passengers without hassle."

Tickets to Caye Caulker are fifteen dollars one way,
twenty-five dollars return, while San Pedro sells for
twenty-five dollars one way, forty-five return. The
new water taxi terminal features its own
restaurant and shops as well as offering access to
the full range of attractions in the rest of the
Tourism Village, including a newly opened
Steakhouse. Bracketing the village on the north and
south are two new restaurants, The Harbour View
and Wet Lizard, turning the entire area into an
increasingly popular entertainment centre for
Belizeans and visitors alike.

Marty. ...what time do the last water taxis leave for San Pedro? I was told 3 p.m., but I'm hoping it's later since we land in Belize City at 2:35 p.m.

Marty,
A very dear friend of mine is a regional trainer for a certain large upscale-touristy restaurant. He called me yesterday and told me that he and a team are making a trek to Belize City to visit the Tourist Village to scout a location. Apparently, they already have all the paperwork in order and were told they would have an "exclusive", as far as this type of establishment is concerned. Have you heard any rumblings?
I had told my friend just a few months back that I didn't think Belize would ever allow them in, much less welcome them.

The last water taxi leaving for San Pedro from the Marine Terminal is at 3 p.m., the last water taxi for Caye Caulker is at 5 p.m. I'll get the new schedule for the new water taxi service that leaves from the Tourist Village and post it later today.

If you arrive in Belize City at 2:30, don't see any reason you couldn't catch the 5:00 boat???

Oh... I see. Sorry. Not sure about the last boat to AC. That info must be on this site somewhere... Seems odd that the last ferry to AC would be 3, and the last one to Caulker would be 5, but who knows?

Yeah, that made no sense to me either. It seems if they have one going to Caye Caulker at 5, they would go to San Pedro at that time too. On this "belize news" link it says this about the Caye Caulker Water Taxi Association Schedule. "From Belize City to Caye Caulker & San Pedro:
(all boats go to both Caye Caulker & San Pedro)
7:30 a.m. -- 9 a.m. -- 10:30 a.m. -- 12:00 -- 1:30 p.m. -- 3 p.m. -- 5 p.m.

Anyone who can update this, I would greatly appreciate it.

One useful piece of info that someone might want to research: Do any of these water taxis have a potty on board? If so, which ones?
