Friends and I are thinking about visting AC. Everything about the island sounds great but no one talks about the beaches or swimming. Some of the travel books indicate that the beaches are "more for lounging than for swimming. Some of the resorts, such as Banana Beach indicate that their beach is good for swimming. We have some in our party who dive, others who fish, everyone is in into barhopping. Comments, sugestions?

Mavo, I would recommend using the search feature in this message board. Click on search above (under post a reply) and then type in Beaches. You will find many posts that have answered your question. Good Luck!

If you really want beaches for swiming and playing on a nice sandy beach, you need to go somewhere along the Placencia penesula. I'd recommend looking at Lost Reef Resort at http://www.lost-reef.com

some places the turtle grass or soft bottom keeps you from swimming, other places the beaches are fine for swimming. all the piers are great for swimming...

we swim all over the place.

and do take Gela's suggestion. this question has some good discussions on the board.
